Tens of youth will meet at the Paranymph of the University of the Republic in Uruguay on August 9th, to discuss strategies to be considered in the future direction the country should take.
Youth from (trade unions, student unions, civil society) organizations of different parts of the country will participate in this meeting. But the meeting is open to anyone interested in participating.
Members of several social organizations from Uruguay that are part of the Commission to prepare the People´s Congress, will arrive on Tuesday to Salto in order to coordinate with local organizations the work towards this meeting that will take place on August 14th, 15th and 16th in Montevideo, capital city of the country. On Monday, the Commission visited Paysandú, where they met with seven of the eight left-wing departamental mayors.
The Uruguayan government is still not addressing the need of small farmers and rural workers to have access to land, according to what José González from the Association of Small Farmers and Rural Workers of Bella Unión (APAARBU) said to Real World Radio.
He believes that in addition to the fields the National Institute of Colonization provides, these should come with other advantages for the unprotected workers, for instance, machinery, credits in State banks and permanent training by State organizations.
